Abusive Creditors
Many debt collectors are out of control these days. With the credit crunch and record default rates on consumer credit accounts, some debt collectors have become overzealous in their collection efforts. Many clients complain that some creditors will call over thirty times in one day. Some collection agencies will call early in the morning, or very late at night. Still, others call the debtor at work, and disclose their debt collection efforts to third parties. Even worse, some debt collectors resort to humiliating debtors with demeaning, mean, and rude remarks that defy all notions of decency. This type of abuse should never be tolerated from anyone.
All of these activities are prohibited under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, as well as the California Rosenthal Act.
Once you retain Doan Law Firm to represent you in a bankruptcy proceeding, your creditors are instructed to make no further contact with you. If they subsequently contact you, knowing you are represented by counsel, they are inviting a lawsuit.
Doan Law Firm will not tolerate abusive creditor antics. If you feel you are on the receiving end of an abusive creditor, please let us know immediately, and we will make every effort to stop the abuse. We have been successful in suing abusive creditors, and when we do, our clients often receive compensation from the abusive creditor above and beyond the cost of their bankruptcy case.
